Immersed in the bucket, it collects the water to be sprinkled. In its place can also be used a decent twig, made with laurel or olive leaves tied together at the end. The bucket is a small metal vessel, sometimes finely worked, with a handle. It contains the blessed water to be used in blessings or for the rite of sprinkling, as recalled by GIRM no. 51: “On Sundays, especially in the Season of Easter, in place of the customary Act of Penitence, from time to time the blessing and sprinkling of water to recall Baptism may take place”.
